Peggy Dembicer

Candy Land
22" x 22" mixed media

Peggy Dembicer is a mixed media artist with a background in fiberarts. As a handweaver in the early 1980s, she had a fondness for tapestry weaving. In the1990s Dembicer’s work shifted to framed and sculptural pieces. She exhibits her work regularly in galleries and private collections throughout Connecticut.

One area of concentration is paperweaving. Her two and three-dimensional framed constructions from paper, fiber and beads are pictorial, geometric or abstract.

Another primary concentration is Dembicer’s use of seed beads in pictorial and patterned expressions which are woven, embroidered, applied with paints or created as intricate mosaics. Dembicer’s mosaics are formed from beads and glue. They can contain as many as 100,000 beads and take months to create.

Some recent works include explorations into acrylics, polymers, beads, metal and stones in combination. Her creative and unique pieces are stimulating and appealing to a wide audience.

Peggy Dembicer currently lives in Avon, Connecticut. She divides her time between her active family life, her full time insurance career and some time each day devoted to her art.
