Grapevine
embroidery

After a full (and lengthy!) career in health insurance underwriting, I have set myself a goal to live the second half of my life using my right-brain.

Living life with creativity is wonderful!  I don’t know where the designs come from; an idea appears and then just morphs into a design as I look at fabric and thread colors.  As I’m making the artwork, I find myself excited to watch the evolution of the design!

I have no formal training and hold no degrees.  In my childhood, I picked up needle and thread and started embroidering on jeans.   My artwork usually brought compliments, but it didn’t feel like “real” art.   At various stages in my life, I tried to find the “real” realm for my creativity; I tried painting, pottery, drawing, music, refinishing furniture and many others.  None appeared to be my forte.

I needed a piece of artwork for my home, with certain colors and in a certain size; I decided to make it myself and fell back to my embroidery skills.  My Grapevine was born.

That was the beginning; designs have been bubbling up and I can’t wait to get them all created.

I live happily in Avon with my dog and 3 cats.
